Bring them back to school, Children in Eastern Congo.
Since 2017, the High Plateau of Minembwe, Itombwe, and Uvira in south Kivu Province of RDC have faced bloody armed conflicts. According to local sources and OCHA (November 2025): 2,000 civilians killed, 450+ villages destroyed, 134 schools and 43 health facilities destroyed, 170,000+ internally displaced people. Children face severe risks: trauma, malnutrition, loss of education, violence, and exploitation. The crisis is urgent, under-funded, and requires immediate child-centered action.
Watoto Welfare, we believe that every child deserves the chance to discover their potential and trust their own strengths. With our current campaign “Bring them back to school” support children tuition fees, school kits and school rehabilitation. Our support is prioritizing the most vulnerable children in the community, while creating safe learning environments where children feel valued, supported, and inspired to dream.
Our approach combines academic learning skills, mentorship, and psychosocial support. This approach helps children not only succeed in school but also build self-esteem and envision a brighter future. By fostering creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth, we empower young minds to break cycles of poverty and conflict.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to help children believe in themselves and explore the possibilities ahead. When a child learns to trust their own strength, they unlock a world of opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities.
