Program Spotlight

Nutrition at School

Providing a nutritious school meal (school feeding program) can solve a number of interrelated problems that affect both children and parents, and overcome many developmental barriers. The school feeding program motivates children to come to school in the hope of getting food for the day, and it reduces malnutrition.

The school feeding program gives parents the stability to focus on other livelihood activities, as children can eat at school. By promoting local food production, smallholder farmers have access to a viable and secure market for their produce.
Once all children have access to formal education, this will increase participation in rebellion, which will gradually reduce violence and thus bring about stable peace in the future.
In the Minembwe region, we implemented the ‘Go back to school’ initiative aimed at providing hot meals to 1,200 marginalized primary school children by the 2023-2024 school year.
